As shared from Washington State Health Care Authority:
The Lived Experience subcommittee of the CRIS Committee has launched the CRIS Lived Experience Stories Project – a project aimed to elevate stories and perspectives of people across Washington state who have accessed behavioral health crisis services for themselves or someone else. Attention Case Managers: BHA Section 8 Waitlist
If you are on BHA’s Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist or know someone who might be, BHA is currently updating our records and needs to know who is interested in staying on the waitlist.
To save your spot with “Save My Spot”:
Around January 15, letters about “Save My Spot” were mailed out to applicants on the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist. Many of these letters were not mailable due to the applicant not having a mailing address on file. While accompanying emails were also sent out, we want to make sure that all applicants have the opportunity to stay on our waitlist.
If you are working with someone that may be on the waitlist, please reach out to them and check if they’ve recently received an email about saving their spot on the waitlist.
Please share this information with your network if you think it would be beneficial and follow the instructions above to help them save their spot. Please note the deadline has been extended to March 29, 2024.
The BHA waitlists remain closed to new applicants. This notice is only for those currently on our Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist.
Please email contactus@bremertonhousing.org if you have questions.
Hello my name is Jeanie Johns and I have been the director of New Beginnings Closet here in Kitsap County for 10 years. We are wanting to change the way that we do things, we would like to diversify and become more of a distribution center for other nonprofits who have space to run small closets out of their buildings or offices. Our volunteers would manage donations at our current location and then we would distribute them to closets all over the county who want to partner with us. That way logistically we could serve more people in more areas. If this is something that might be of interest to your organization please call me or email me or text me 360-265-3398 thank you.

Responding to community need. Every three years, Kitsap Community Resources (KCR) conducts a comprehensive assessment to evaluate the needs and assets in our community. Historically, it's been designed to highlight the gaps in services, programs and policies in Kitsap county, specifically as they pertain to the community members that might need KCR's services the most. It has also helped inform and guide KCR's strategic plan...
Data gathering with equity in mind. ...In all, 4,205 members of our community shared their perspective; the biggest response by far to any previous survey conducted by KCR. Equally important is that the respondents do largely represent our whole community, when considering their residency, income, race, age, geography, etc. This success is directly attributable to the strength of the community partnership that supported the effort.
Data for all. Moreover, these partners have committed that the data be accessible to all. Below is a public dashboard that's been created to make it easier for all service partners and community members to analyze data and see important results. Our hope is that the results will serve as an educational piece for agencies throughout Kitsap County to better understand the challenging issues our community faces and ultimately aid in creating effective solutions...
